Lindsay entered college as an illustrator but came out a biochemist. Though she is working in a research lab full-time, she can still be seen doing creative tasks while the other scientists look at her strangely.

Melissa entered college as an interior designer but came out a biotechnologist. She is now pursuing a PhD in environmental toxicology while still indulging in her creativity through crafting and designing in her spare time. This sometimes includes those long incubation periods!

The Design

So you drop a dash of some solid chemical substance into a test tube of some clear, bland liquid. With a flash and a boom, excitement bubbles out of the test tube to make way for a whole bunch of awesomeness. It comes in many shapes, sizes and flavors, sinking to the bottom, floating in clumps or flying out of the tube in all directions. Yes, that’s right, you just made some precipitate!

We have called the blog Precipitate This!, science speak for creating something as one can do through the arts and crafts. The design of the blog focuses on representing the excitement and novelty of the sciences through the creativity of the arts.

Finally, a little note about our logo. Pt, an acronym for our blog, also happens to be the symbol for the element platinum. This not only adds another level of nerdiness to our design, but also represents our hopes for this blog. We are going platinum.
